Antonio “Tony” Urquidi, 84, a member of the Pencil Bluff community passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in Mount Ida, leaving behind a rich legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on Saturday, March 15, 1941, in Pecos, Texas, Tony was a man devoted to service and faith throughout his remarkable life.

Tony’s dedication to his community was evident in numerous ways. He proudly served as a Knight of Columbus, embodying the spirit of service and faith that defined his years in Pecos. Together with his beloved wife, Emma, they took on the noble role of youth pastors at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, guiding and nurturing the next generation with love, compassion, and wisdom. Their partnership in faith and community service exemplified a devotion that inspired many.

Tony’s commitment extended beyond his community work; he also served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for four years. This chapter of his life shaped him into the disciplined and principled man he became, instilling values he carried into every aspect of his personal and public life.

Tony is predeceased by his cherished parents, Jimmy and Arcadia Urquidi, daughter, Priscilla Ann Palomino and his sister, Lydia Garcia. Their memories remained close as he continued to create a family legacy that now stretches across generations.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Emma, with whom he shared a bond that lasted a lifetime. Their love was a beacon of hope, strength, and unwavering support for one another. He leaves behind his loving children, daughter, Annette Marie Nichols (Norma Wright), son, Tony Urquidi II (Adele Valdez), who continues to honor his spirit and teachings. Tony’s legacy further lives on through his grandchildren: Zachary Ryan Palomino (Christi Fridell); Joshua Dominique Nichols; Alexa Nicole Carmona (Tony); Hunter Tylo Turner (Stephan Turner); Michael Palomino: and Jordan Dedrick Nichols. Each grandchild carries a piece of Tony’s heart and wisdom as they forge their own paths in the world. Moreover, Tony was blessed with ten great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his life, and who will undoubtedly carry forward the values he instilled in their parents and in them.

Tony will be remembered for his profound impact on his family and community, his tireless dedication to service, and his unyielding love for those he cherished. His memory will forever live on in the stories told by his loved ones and in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to know him. Tony is also survived by his sister, Anita Vasquez.

The family would like to thank Elite Hospice of Mena and Dr. Stephen Divers and loving staff at Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute in Hot Springs for the love & care they gave to their beloved husband, father & grandfather.
