To remember the man that Charles Ackerman was, is to remember the hope and positivity he had in any situation. We lost a husband, a father, father-in law, a brother, Pappy, and friend. Chuck was born on March 21, 1938, and died on March 21, 2025, at age 87. So, that day will live on forever in the hearts of his family.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Ida married for 67 years, his children Linda Snyder (Tom) of Forest City, North Carolina, David Ackerman (Laura) of Mount Ida, Arkansas and Lisa Riley (Blake) of Mount Ida, Arkansas. He had 5 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Chuck was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He never met a stranger. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was always there, giving prudent advice and leading the family in decisions that helped guide them in life.
There are so many fond memories that the family has, from the early years, such as swimming the boat onto shore, pushing the boat off a sandbar, or pulling up an anchor. Teaching us how to fish and hunt, washing his car and boat, getting his green books from work, as well as being the channel changer before there were remote controls.
In recent years, he was always interested in everything his family was doing, always wanting to know where we were. Life 360 was his friend. Every morning, he would always say good “Morning me love” to his wife and check on his kids.
Services will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Mount Ida, Arkansas, on Thursday, March 27th, 2025, at 10:00am. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to the family home for lunch at 182 Shultz Lane, Mount Ida, AR 71957. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Wounded Warriors which were two of Chuck’s favorite charities.
