Earl Gene “Poppy” White was born to Namon Earl White and Francis Hudspeth White on September 9, 1946 in Perryville, AR. On July 20, 2019 his faith ended in sight and Poppy went Home to be with his Lord and Saviour. He is survived by his wife; Jane White, sons; David (Tara) White and Michael (Shirell) White, grandsons; Cade, Caleb, and Jackson White, brother and sister in law; Dub and Wanda Clenney, uncle; T.O. White, 2 special nieces; Cheri Clenney and Deana Cole, a special nephew; Doug Armstrong, many cousins, his loving Church Family at Prairie Grove and many, many friends.
Earl Gene served his community until Saturday, July 20th. He was an elder in the Prairie Grove Church, as well as teaching the entire Bible in 20 years, and the President of Churches of God of the Arkansas Conference. Earl Gene did many things for Camp YoLaWiGo. He was a charter member of the S&L Volunteer Fire Department. He was S&L 511. Earl Gene loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a Mount Ida Lion. He was retired from AHTD after working 31 years. He served as OES in Montgomery County from February 2001-December 2006. He was many things to many people but most of all a faithful servant of our Lord and Saviour.
Pallbearers will be Keith and Jamie Saveall, Jason and Aaron Lenderman, Mike May, Ron Cescaline, Jeremy McCullough and Chase Battle. Honorary Pallbearers will be the S&L Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation will be Tuesday July 23, 2019, 5:30-7:30pm, at Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida. A loving tribute will be given to Earl Gene on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, 10:00 am at the Prairie Grove Church of God with burial following at the Reed Cemetery with Brother Ed DePriest and Brother Randy Kunkel.
