Ewel Greenlee

Ewel Greenlee, 96 years old, of Mount Ida went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 23, 2021. He was born July 12, 1925 to H.T. and Janie Gordon Walton Greenlee in Rison, Arkansas. He was married to Kathryn Colvin Greenlee for 62 and a half years before her death in 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Laronn Greenlee, Brady Greenlee and Hubert Greenlee, and a grandson, John Randolph Blakely Jr.

We will celebrate the life of Ewel Greenlee with our memories. He retired from the International Paper Mill after 38 years. He has always been his daughters hero. His love touched so many children lives. Anyone who needed a home and love, he welcomed. He helped each of his daughters with anything that needed repaired at their homes. When his daughters were young, he took his family camping at Lake Ouachita yearly. He never fished, even though he loved to fish and have fish fries. Instead he would drive the ski boat pulling his daughters all over the lake. Years later after having grandchildren, he would be in the boat again pulling them all over the lake. Such great memories. We love and cherish him. He was a World War II vet and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, serving as a medic. It was years before he would even talk about his time in the service. We loved his stories as they were always positive. He was the most positive person ever known. He was a whistler, always whistling a hymn. He also loved to watch his Grand Ole Opry DVD’s. He was a member of Lake Ouachita Baptist Church. He was a Shriner, a life long Mason, reaching 32 degree.

Survivors are Gwen Greenlee Green of Pine Bluff, AR, Sue Greenlee Blakely of Strong, AR, and Cindi Greenlee Lawhon, spouse Rickey of Redfield, AR. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
