Scott Brakefield, 73, of Mount Ida, AR, passed away January 5, 2024, at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, AR. Scott was born on November 27, 1950, in Hot Springs, AR, to the late Joseph and Irene Brakefield. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Robin Smith.
Scott was a loving husband, dad, and the best Pap around. He was the assistant principal at The Academy for the past four years. Pap always enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. He was a member of the Mount Ida Volunteer Fire Department and served as Chief for many years. He was also a member of the Mount Ida Methodist Church.
Scott is survived by his wife of 44 years Vicki Brakefield, three daughters and their spouses, Amanda Craver (Toby), Tara Teague (Travis), and Amy James (Jason). He has nine grandchildren, Karlie, Caroline, Carrie, and Brent Craver, Taylor and Noah Teague, Brody and Jemma James and Barrett Nieman, one sister Tracy Johnston (Al) and a host of other family and friends.
The visitation will be Monday, January 8, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thornton Funeral Home. Memorial service is Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Mount Ida, AR. Larry Carr will officiate the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com.
