Sue Wilson, 90, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, passed away, Saturday, December 21st, 2024, in Hot Springs. She was born January 16, 1934, in Fendley, Arkansas to John Calvin and Mamie (Roberts) Evans. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband of 50 years Waldo Wilson, and 8 siblings.
Sue is survived by her sons Kevin Wilson and wife Lisa, Jeff Wilson and wife Nan, grandchildren Eric Wilson and wife Anna, Chad Wilson and wife Taylor, Whitney Wilson Jones and husband Chris, T.J. Wilson and wife Jessi, great-grandchildren Scout Cimino and husband Hagen, Lainey Wilson and Jett Wilson, sister-in-law Velzene Wilson Burroughs, nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Sue was an employee with Allied Telephone Co. & Alltel Telephone Co. until she retired. She was a basketball player at Amity School. She played softball with the ladies from Mount Ida. Sue was also an avid bowler after retiring & bowled in a league in Hot Springs. Sue was an all-around sports mom, grandmother, & great-grandmother. She probably holds a record of the most attended sporting events in football, basketball, baseball, softball, & track meets following her kids, grandkids, & great-grandkids. She traveled all over Arkansas & beyond.
Waldo, Sue & the boys enjoyed many wonderful vacations traveling the US with Farm Bureau.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 23rd, 2024, 5pm-7pm at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel. Service will be held Tuesday, December 24, 2024, 10:00 am at First Baptist of Mount Ida with Bro. Bill Ashburn officiating. Burial will be at Reed Cemetery in Story, Arkansas. Pallbearers are LJ Warneke, Lloyd Tubbs, Sam Amerson, Paul Childress, Randy Barrett and Scott Richards. Honorary pallbearers are Arkansas Hospice, Hettie Abernathy, Margaret Simpson, Mary Amerson, Nelda Stidman, Doris Jean Cruse, Edna Ruth Mayberry, Ralonda Blansett, and Margie Standridge.
